Silicon Nitride

Its chemical formula is Si3N4. The Silicon nitride is a material very hard and chemically resistant.
This type of nitride is produced by the synthesis of silicon with nitrogen and may occur in the crystalline phase Alpha or Beta, usually coexisting.

Applications
The Si3N4 often finds application in the semiconductor sector but is also highly appreciated for its good resistance to fracture and then mechanical applications that require high mechanical. For the same reason it is used especially in mechanical parts subject to wear.
The excellent resistance to thermal changes of silicon nitride makes it particularly suitable for applications in advanced ceramics and production of ceramic beads.
